Wow, what a crazy year 2020 has been, if someone told me this time last year that we would have national lockdowns, told to stay at home and children would be home educated, I would have said they were off their rocker!
We’ve all faced massive change this year, from adapting the way we live our daily lives, attempting to homeschool our children (mine now know wine is an essential must have item on the weekly shopping list lol) and we’ve all had to take a hit with our working lives, whether that’s been working throughout the pandemic on the frontline, adjusting to working from home (not easy if you have children at home) and even those who have lost their jobs because of all of this - it really has definitely been a weird and stressful year for everyone.
However, I have always been one to look for the positive in any situation and this has really helped me to get through this year.
Whilst I’ve been unable to go to work, I’ve used the time to reflect and found myself asking, what do I want to achieve from life? I have a wonderful home life with my husband and two sons living in our house we renovated a few years ago, I’ve watched my husband study over this past year as he moves towards a dramatic career change and he has really inspired me. We all are guilty of saying ‘I will do that one day’ But why one day? Why not now?
I have always wanted to be part of the fashion industry and also knew I wanted to work for myself, I’d come up with many ideas over the years and the draft version of my business plan was collecting dust as life in general would always get in the way. Then came 2020, when we were all forced to slow down and that’s when I thought, this is my time to bite the bullet and pursue my dream, so I did!
I trained with the London College of Style to become a Personal Stylist and I have loved every second of it, I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone and got to work writing my website content, putting myself in front of the camera, creating my brand and finalising my business plan.
It’s definitely made me feel like a contestant on The Apprentice at times, adapting my way of thinking and learning new skills, but no matter what happens, even with all the negatives 2020 has bought, I will always remember the positive - I finally launched All About The Outfit.
